A corn field. I took this last night. Some lessons in lighting learnt here. I've noticed over the summer that the sky isn't the colour I'd like. That might seem like a strange statement, but hear me out. With summer comes haze, and at the moment it's washing out both distance and changing blue skies to cyan.

Now while I freely admit that in some cases this leads to more atmospheric shots (particularly with morning dew) it causes no end of havoc for certain lighting conditions. The theory goes that applying a Skylight or UV-Haze filter reduces these problems, with a polarizer it's wiped out almost completely. Well, either I live in a freaky alternative universe, or someone is fibbing.

The haze at the moment is scattering light so randomly I'm unable to get a clean shot irrespective of the filter. So this is why there's a corn field in Sepia. I cheated. I couldn't get the dynamic lighting range I wanted (using various zoom, speeds and lenses) I therefore opted for something that would take the haze and use it to its advantage.

You can probably sense some frustration in my writings. You'd be right. It stems from the fact that some shots only exist for a short period of time and as most people can't play god, you have to take what you can get.Posted by Hello
